Recently, I had the pleasure of helping Heike Hoerdermann discover the colors that enhance her inner radiance. Named after a Norse goddess, her evocative name embodies strength and a deep connection to nature—an inspired choice by her parents. Tall, blonde, and athletic, Heike is a striking figure who radiates good health, good humor and a gentle strength, instilling trust in those around her.
After two decades in the hotel industry, during which she eagerly relocated to various countries to immerse herself in diverse cultures, Heike settled in Rome. Fifteen years ago, she made the bold decision to leave her hotel career to become a full-time yoga teacher. Today, she continues to teach and practice yoga, having developed her own unique style that incorporates Jin Shin Jyutsu. This ancient Japanese healing art, meaning “the art of knowing oneself,” focuses on holding fingers in specific positions, or mudras, that correspond to meridian points on the body.
Heike’s enthusiasm for Jin Shin Jyutsu has fueled her mission to introduce this ancient practice to Italy, where she teaches courses on self-healing in both Rome and Milan. Her passion for yoga and Jin Shin Jyutsu has led her to pioneer a distinctive form of yoga that blends the two disciplines. Moreover, she has come full circle in her hospitality career, using the emotional intelligence and empathy she cultivated in her hotel experiences, alongside her extensive travel, to conduct wellness retreats at her beautiful home in Palombara Sabina, nestled in the picturesque countryside just outside of Rome.
